More Snow Pictures

Here's what our office looked like yesterday afternoon...

And here's what the house looked like this morning...

The amount of snow we got down here is nothing compared to what my friend a couple of hours north experienced...she has 23 inches of snow!!! We "only" have six inches.

Let It Snow

Not that I have any choice in the matter...

We've had another inch or so since these photos were taken before I headed off to work this morning. Everything is looking very pretty and white.

What I Found In My Office

OK...found isn't quite the right word. It might have been you that found him, but I put him there. Isn't he cute!!!

My co-worker's newborn (4 weeks old) visited the office yesterday and I got to babysit for a couple of hours. Since he spent the whole time peacefully sleeping on my office floor, it really didn't involve much "babysitting." But it was fun to look over and see him there.

Life Changes

Despite our adaptability as humans, we still struggle with changes. These struggles are especially hard when they hit you personally and dramatically.

Last month my Mom was diagnosed (as much as they can) with Alzheimer's Disease. The month before we found out she had diabetes. It's getting hard to remember what life was like before August.

Somehow it is easy to forget that things really never stay the same. Or at least that the future will have a predictability based on the past. Such is never the case of course...although we often think it is.

The only thing that stays the same is God. He never changes. His promises are always reliable. When the storms of life pound around me, I have a solid rock on which I can stand. I feel sorry for all the people in the world who cannot say that.

Uncle Larry's Memorial Service

Last weekend was a busy one for me and many of our family members as we reflected on the life of our dear Uncle Larry. It was quite a shock to me when I heard that he had gone home to heaven to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus on October 17.

Uncle Larry spent his life serving God and encouraging others to do the same. He had a passion for helping people, young and old, develop and grow in their relationship with Jesus.

Last Saturday I attended a Memorial Service for Uncle Larry, along with my aunt's surviving brothers (3) and sisters (3). Also in attendance was Uncle Larry's siblings (3) along with a number of relatives and friends. I counted around 47 relatives (although I probably missed a few).

It was good to see so many people, but sad that it was for such an occasion as a Memorial Service. We had 2-6 people staying at our house (depending on which night) and it was fun to have a house full of guests.

Most everyone has headed back home now. This is when I will be praying for my Aunt and her two children more than ever. It is never easy to adjust to such a dramatic change in one's life. But it is very comforting to be able to lean on the everlasting arms to take care-of you no matter what.

Final House Remodel Pictures

I forgot that I never posted final pictures of the remodel. See below.

The contractor, designer, builder, and owner.

Belated Update

Has it really been over a month since I posted? It hardly seems possible! Well you are in for the summary version of my past month: Work at work, work at home, and take vacation Labor Day Weekend.

We (Dad, Mom, Sister, Friend, and I) went to the west coast and camped along a river that ran right into the Pacific Ocean. The morning the below video was taken we tried going down the river into the ocean with a canoe. Canoe = 0, Ocean = 1

A rubber raft worked much better!

Remodel Receives Rave Reviews

We worked till the last minute to get it ready (and even past the last minute to be honest). But it was ready enough. And that's what counts.

The review at this link does a great job of describing the atmosphere and has some great pictures. I'll post some pictures of my own after we get the final, final touches done on the house.

Remodel Update Week 16

After Day 88 - Boy there's a lot of things to be done to finish and move into a house!
